Has this ever happened to you?
My friend told me I wouldn't get hooked if I just tried it once.
I was at a party and everybody else there was doing it. I didn't want to look like a dork.
She said it would be the best high I've ever felt.
All I did was say "no, thanks" and walk away. My life is my own, and it's better without drugs or alcohol.
At some point in your life, someone is going to offer you drugs or alcohol. What are you going to say? Go ahead and plan some good responses now. How about, "I'm just not that into it." You don't have to be a goody-goody or a know-it-all. Just say "No, thanks. I don't want to."
Fact is, three out of four kids don't mess around with drugs or alcohol. Turns out not everyone is doing it. If it seems like all of your friends are into drugs or alcohol, maybe it's time to find some new friends. There are plenty of people out there who have better things to do than get into trouble with drugs or alcohol.

What to do if your friend uses drugs or drinks? Share the facts with your friend. Tell him or her that you care, and want to help them quit. Be firm in letting your friend know that you like him or her better sober, and that you will not hang around when they are using. But remember that their decisions are not your responsibility.
